Dear Zachary,
These past few months have been hectic and emotional. My dear Zachary, Christmas is two days away and our tree is ready, cards are sent, gifts are wrapped, cookies are made and stockings are hung. The holidays just never seem totally right without you here with us. This is your 10th Christmas in heaven, Meatball. I can't believe that I've only had you here with me for one of them. I always think about all of the things that we didn't get to have with you.

At this stage in my life, about to turn 35, the thing I enjoy most is a great day with my family. We like to explore the outdoors, go for walks, play at the park, visit with family… just about anything as long as we're all together. But...

The news I found out on Friday the 13th had the potential to be possibly the best news I've ever received! I got a phone call letting me know that the mandatory minimum sentencing we initially were seeking through Zachary's Law has a strong chance to become law! I can't begin to describe how incredible this is. We had to give out on our mandatory minimum sentenced back in October of 2012, because we hit a huge roadblock and our time was running out. You can read about it on our Zachary's Law page.

Being that this was Zachary’s big 1-0, it was only fitting to make his birthday a big celebration.
Bill proposed the idea of making a special trip to Pennsylvania to celebrate. Having family and friends surrounding us was an easy sell. Generally this time of the year for me is difficult. When your child’s birthday is approaching, you’re normally shopping for the perfect gift and planning a fun party or event for your kiddo to celebrate their big day. Since Zachary’s 1st birthday I haven’t been able to really do that until this year.

Some days seem to creep by while others fly. January was a little bit of both. Sitting here to write my January reflection, I feel like January passed like a speeding train. However I can think of a few days that I felt like I could hear the second hand ticking on the clock.

The 10th month of the Remembering Zachary Project was very special.
The holidays are such a time of joy and family. Everyone decorates their home, thinks of the perfect gifts they can buy for their loved ones, and finds times in their busy days to do special things with their loved ones. As I’m sure all kids do, my kiddos just light up when it’s the holiday time. I love watching them smile and count down the days of December in anticipation of Christmas morning.
